Artchemy Constitution

Preamble

In order to make the world a better place, we need to evolve our minds and our culture, inspired by this endeavour, we set out to create Artchemy, a collaborative art and literature platform.

Publishing Councils

In order to maximize the chances that your content is published, 3 different publishing councils are created:

1. The Founding Council
2. The Senator Council
3. The Collector Council

If your content is rejected in one council, it may succeed in another.

The Founding Council

The Founding Council is the Artchemy Company itself. It reserves the right to publish content, similar to the way a magazine, a newspaper, a trading card game, or a comic book publisher can release content.

Content created or approved by the Founding Council will be published, and it will receive the Founding Council Badge.

The Senator Council

The Senator Council is constituted by a group of outstanding individuals, with a proven track record of being of benefit to others. They display qualities such as wisdom, knowledge, intelligence, integrity, impartiality, benevolence and truthfulness. All Senators have equal voting power among them.

Each piece of content will be voted by Artchemy Senators, and if 61.8% or more agree, the content will be published, and it will receive the Artchemy Senate Badge.

The Collector Council

The Collector Council is open to all the people of the world. By holding 1 or more Artchemy Tokens, you instantly become an Artchemy Collector. The voting power of collectors equals the amount of tokens they hold.

All content is voted by collectors, and if 70.8% or more collectors agree, the content will be published, and it will receive the Artchemy Collector Council Badge.

Artchemy Philosophy

When you join Artchemy, you share these values with us, which guide us in how we interact and create content:

1. A Place of Exploration, Discovery, Growth and Nurturing: we come to Artchemy to be inspired, to grow and to create a more beautiful world. To do that, we embark on a journey of exploration and discovery, which culminates in our growth. Having ourselves grown, we then seek to nurture others.
2. Ideas are Competing, Not Us: we don't seek to defeat each other in debate or competition, instead we seek to grow together through the exploration of different ideas. Once we realize an idea is better than our own, we incorporate that idea, resulting in our growth. If we attach our ideas to our identity, it's harder to evolve and perfect our point of view.
3. Think For Yourself: we take the time to deeply think about each issue, not falling into partisan group think. We actually form our own philosophy, after analyzing each issue deeply and carefully. Our loyalty is not to the left or the right, but to truth, that which will maximize our well being.
4. Normalize Not Having an Opinion: once you escape group think and truly think for yourself, you need to be able to NOT have an opinion on matters that you have not deeply thought of yet. Wise non opinions are better than ignorant opinions.
5. No Discrimination: we evaluate people by the quality of their character, not by discriminatory factors such as the color of their skin, nationality, ethnicity, religion, age, gender, or any other measure that fails to evaluate each person individually.
6. No Junk Content: we don't create content compulsively. We try to find something that is truly special, interesting and valuable.
7. Competence: collaborators shall be chosen based on their competence and ability to produce results, nothing else. This protects the quality of our output.
8. Patient Creativity: we don't try to force our creativity. We wait patiently for a great high quality idea to come to us and genuinely inspire us.
9. Fanatical Craftsmanship: every artwork is potentially life-changing and deserves meticulous care. We refine each piece to perfection, until we cannot conceive of anything better. This applies particularly post-launch, when we'll have the resources to do so.
10. Thorough Research: we research and learn about the subject matter of our art with great detail, so that we can better capture and imagine what to paint. If we are not expert enough to make art around a subject, we avoid it, or seek to team up with experts in the field.

Content Policy Rationale

We want to create a friendly, positive environment here that can nurture people of all types. We don't want to get sucked and distracted into meaningless fighting. We believe that fighting is generally not conducive to progress and growth.

We want to center Artchemy where we can have the most powerful and most meaningful impact: ourselves. And from this place of strength, we can then effectively help our loved ones and create a better, more beautiful world.

Content Policy in Simple Terms

You can create anything you want on Artchemy, as long as:

1. It does not directly attack any person, group, company, government or institution. This is not a platform to punish or denounce others for their misdeeds or bring them to justice.
2. It is not journalism, we seek to tackle deeper and more transcendental subjects than the current news of the day.
3. It is not destructive or exceedingly harmful, for example, you cannot promote genocide, rape, theft, etc.
4. It respects copyright law, especially given the fact that our artworks can become products.

Focus on making something positive and respectful, and you'll be good.

Content Policy

All art and literature published by the 3 Artchemy Councils must adhere to this Content Policy:

1. Human Artists in Final Artworks: while you can use Artificial Intelligence to create sketches and aid your productivity, we require an accomplished real human artist when creating a final artwork at Artchemy.
2. Murder, Terrorism & Genocide: you cannot promote murder, terrorism or genocide.
3. Pedophilia & Rape: you cannot promote pedophilia or rape.
4. Spam, Robbery & Theft: you cannot promote spam, stealing, looting, robbing, etc.
5. Deception & Fraud: you cannot publish things that are demonstrably deceitful, untrue or fraudulent.
6. Don't Divide People and Make them Enemies: you cannot create content that will divide people, nations or communities and make them enemies.
7. Don't Be Needlessly Harsh or Violent: content that is needlessly harsh or violent, or that promotes needless violence or cruelty, is not allowed.
8. Self Harm: content that promotes self harm in any way, for example drugs, suicide or mutilation, is banned.
9. Copyright & Trademark: you cannot use copyrighted characters and trademarks without written permission from their respective owners.
10. Plagiarism: you cannot steal the creativity of other artists without creating enough originality of your own.
11. Unlawful Obscenity: you cannot have obscenity in your art, as seen by the Supreme Court Case Miller v. California (1973).
12. Incitement of Law Violations: the law does not allow us to incite the violation of the law itself.
13. Violation of Privacy: you cannot make content around the private life of individuals, when the subject is not of legitimate public concern.
14. Classified Information & Trade Secrets: you cannot disclose classified information or protected trade secrets in your content.

In addition, we have these temporary bans that we might or might not remove in the future, as we learn more about the law with our legal counsel:

1. Living People Ban: you cannot draw art about living people without their written permission.
2. Defamation: artworks that damage the reputation of individuals, groups of people, institutions, etc, are not allowed for now.
3. Nudity: artworks with nudity are not allowed for now.

This Content Policy is enforced by The Founding Council.

Senator Council Rules

The Artchemy Senate is ruled by the following policy:

1. Nomination: Artchemy Senators can be nominated by other Senators and by the Founding Council.
2. Appointment: the first 108 Artchemy senators shall be appointed by the Founding Council. From 108 to 300, half will be appointed by The Founding Council, and half by the Senator Council. From 300 onwards, Senators shall be appointed exclusively by the Senator Council itself.
3. Term: Artchemy Senators serve for life.
4. Transfer: Artchemy Senator seats cannot be transferred or sold.
5. Resignation: Artchemy Senators have the right to submit their resignations at any moment.
6. Seat Inheritance: Senators can propose who will succeed them after death. The Artchemy Senate will vote these nominees.
7. Termination: Senators, once appointed, can only be terminated by dual order of the Founding Council and the Senator Council combined, with good reason, for example, when a senator is involved in bribery or other crimes.
8. Impartiality: Senators can be from any country, race, gender, religion and sexual orientation.
9. Age: Senators must be 20 years or older.
10. Quorum: a minimum quorum of 12 senators is required for votes to be valid.
11. Verification & Account Recovery: senators will log in with their blockchain wallet. If they lose their wallet, they may request a change of address after proving their identity.
12. Bribery & Conflict of Interest: senators cannot sell their votes, or receive gifts in exchange for support. If they do, they may lose their senate seat, by dual order of the Senate Council and the Founding Council both. Evidence must be provided in order to depose a senator.

Why does the Senator Council require 61.8% approval and the Collector Council 70.8%? Why not just >50%?

The golden ratio is 61.8%, and water covers 70.8% of the Earth's surface. These ratios were chosen for their relationship to nature. Higher numbers than 50% were chosen in order to achieve a higher level of quality in the artworks and a wider level of agreement.
